Job summary

Tweed Shire Council is seeking a qualified professional to develop, install and maintain electronic Monitoring and Control Systems for water and sewer assets. You will support SCADA operations, monitor performance, and assist with capital planning within the Water Unit.

Ideally you hold a NSW Electrical or Contractor’s Licence, Instrumentation Cert IV or equivalent, plus proven PLC programming and radio telemetry experience.

Qualifications

  • NSW Electrical or Contractor’s Licence is required.
  • Certificate IV in Instrumentation or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrated competence in installing, maintaining and calibrating instrumentation.
  • PLC programming experience (Ladder Logic / Function Block).
  • SCADA systems and Radio Telemetry familiarity.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, install and maintain electronic Monitoring and Control Systems for water and sewer assets.
  • Support SCADA operation and performance of infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance and contribute to maintenance programs and capital planning.
  • Provide technical support to Mechanical and Electrical teams.
  • Collaborate within Water Unit with attention to detail and client service.

About The Role
  • Develop, install, and maintain electronic Monitoring and Control Systems for critical Water and Sewer Assets.
  • Support the operation and performance of SCADA systems, ensuring reliable infrastructure at minimal risk and cost.
  • Monitor system performance and contribute to maintenance programs and short-to-medium term capital planning.
  • Provide technical support to Mechanical and Electrical teams and assist other business areas as required.
  • Work collaboratively within the Water Unit, demonstrating flexibility, attention to detail, and a strong client service focus.

  • a base salary ranging from $84,316 per annum with competency-based increments up to $99,874 per annum, plus 12% super

We are seeking:
  • A qualified professional with a NSW Electrical or Contractor’s Licence and a minimum of two years' relevant experience.
  • Strong technical expertise, including Certificate IV in Instrumentation (and equivalent experience), or Dual Trade in Electrotechnology and Instrumentation and Control or equivalent qualifications, including demonstrated competence in installing, maintaining, and calibrating instrumentation
  • Proven experience with PLC programming (Ladder Logic / Function Block), SCADA systems, and Radio Telemetry Systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of water supply, sewage treatment processes, and the ability to design, implement, and manage control systems and complex plant circuitry.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct root cause analysis and collaborate on process improvements.
