We’re looking for current Heavy Machinery Operator licences, proven site experience, strong safety knowledge, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Operate construction plant and machinery including excavators, loaders, graders and compactors.
• Perform routine maintenance checks and pre-start inspections.
• Maintain records of equipment usage, fuel consumption and maintenance activities.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and site protocols.
• Communicate with site supervisors and team to coordinate work.
• Operate equipment per manufacturer specifications and best practices.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and report issues to management.
• Assist with loading, unloading and transportation of materials and equipment.

We are seeking a Multi Skilled Operator to join NQ Estimating & Civil Services in Cairns, QLD. This is a casual position that offers flexibility and variety across different plant and machinery operations. Must have Hc licence

2/1 roster

As a Multi Skilled Operator, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining and managing various types of construction equipment and machinery across diverse project sites. This role is essential to the successful delivery of our civil and construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

Operate a variety of construction plant and machinery including but not limited to excavators, loaders, graders, and compactors

Perform routine maintenance checks and pre-start inspections on all equipment to ensure safe operation

Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, fuel consumption and maintenance activities

Adhere to all health and safety regulations and site-specific safety protocols

Communicate effectively with site supervisors and other team members to coordinate work activities

Operate equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry best practices

Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and report mechanical issues to management

Assist with loading, unloading and transportation of materials and equipment as required

What we're looking for

Current and valid Heavy Machinery Operator licences (or equivalent qualifications) for multiple plant categories

Proven experience operating various construction equipment in civil and construction environments

Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to plant and machinery operations

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in dynamic construction settings

Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of equipment maintenance principles

Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow instructions and safety protocols

Physical fitness and ability to work in varying weather conditions

Flexibility to work casual hours as required by project schedules

A valid driver's licence is essential

Experience working on civil construction projects in regional Queensland is advantageous
