Job summary

PPG Braeside Office in Melbourne seeks an MSO Specialist to provide hands-on operational, technical and training support across the customer production environment.

In this full-time, permanent role you will perform vehicle preparation, paint mixing, and application, while maintaining equipment and mentoring site staff. This position emphasizes process adherence, Lean principles and safety compliance within a high-volume shop setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on experience in a high-volume vehicle repair environment.
• Experience with process-driven environments.
• High level of interpersonal and communication skills at all business levels.
• Ability to enforce process is non-negotiable.
• Understanding of labour productivity and profitability.
• Strong planning, time management and organisation skills.
• Extensive knowledge of PPG products and application systems.
• Knowledge of LEAN principles.
• Basic computer literacy and email communication.
• Self-motivated to achieve tasks efficiently.
• Hold a current valid driver license.
• Complete mandatory company training as required, in person or online.
• Adherence to EHS policies and PPG Ethics and Travel policies.

Responsibilities

• Identify and remedy on-site production bottlenecks quickly.
• Hands-on role – vehicle preparation, paint mixing, and paint application per site requirements.
• Ongoing equipment maintenance – spray equipment, UV & IR lamps, gun-wash machines, color tools.
• Train, mentor and discipline customer paint & panel staff as required.
• Staff training on-site and at PPG Training Centre, including assessments.
• Monthly Site Audits to identify areas of concern related to EHS, process and operations.

The Role:

Key Responsibilities:

• Strict adherence to standardised repair process & enforce same with site staff
• Ability to quickly identify and remedy on‑site production bottlenecks
• Hands on role – vehicle preparation, paint mixing, paint application in line with site requirements
• Ongoing equipment maintenance – spray equipment / UV & IR lamps / gun‑wash machines / color tools etc.
• Ability to train, mentor and discipline customer paint & panel staff as required
• Staff training - On‑site & PPG Training Centre, one on one training, staff assessments, and pre‑employment assessments
• Monthly Site Audits to identify areas of concern in relation to EHS, process and operations

Requirements:

• Ideally 5 years plus of hands‑on experience within a high‑volume vehicle repair environment
• Experience with process driven environments
• High level of interpersonal & communication skills at all levels of business
• Ability to enforce process is a non‑negotiable requirement
• Understanding of labour productivity and the relationship to overall profitability.
• Sound planning, time management and organisational skills.
• Extensive knowledge of PPG products and application systems.
• Knowledge of LEAN principles
• Basic computer & literary competency in regard to email and other electronic communication
• Be self‑motivated to achieve the required work tasks efficiently during the working day
• Hold and maintain a current / valid motor vehicle driver license
• Complete all mandatory company training both internal or external as required, whether in person or online
• Adherence to all EHS policies at both PPG and Customer sites
• Ensure compliance with PPG Ethics policy
• Comply with the Travel and Entertainment policy
• All PPG sites and vehicles are Smoke Free environments
• Comply with the PPG Company Vehicle Policy
