Job summary

Stronamax Tyre And Auto Pty Ltd in Westmeadows, VIC, is looking for a qualified Motor Mechanic (General) / Lead Technician to join our workshop. You will perform complex diagnostics, service and repair light vehicles, and lead daily workshop activities.

The role requires a trade qualification, 1–3 years post-qualification experience, a valid Australian Driver’s Licence, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools.
• Service, repair and replace engine components, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspensions and cooling systems.
• Perform logbook servicing, tyre fitting, wheel balancing and roadworthiness inspections.
• Lead daily workshop workflow, oversee repair quality and mentor apprentices and juniors.
• Maintain equipment, tools and ensure a clean, safe workshop environment.
• Conduct post-repair test drives and write service/inspection reports.

Job Description

About the Role: Stronamax Tyre and Auto is seeking a qualified, highly skilled, and experienced Motor Mechanic (General) / Lead Technician to join our team in Westmeadows, VIC. In this workshop leadership role, you will perform complex diagnostic and mechanical servicing, oversee workshop operations, ensure stringent quality control, and provide technical guidance to apprentices and junior technicians.

Key Duties & Responsibilities: Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in light vehicles using diagnostic computer tools and manual equipment. Service, repair, and replace engine components, transmissions, braking systems, steering, suspensions, and cooling systems.

Perform routine scheduled logbook servicing, tyre fitting, wheel balancing, and roadworthiness inspections. Lead daily workshop workflow, oversee repair quality, and mentor junior mechanics and apprentices. Maintain equipment, tools, diagnostic scanners, and ensure a clean, compliant, and safe workshop environment.

Conduct post-repair test drives and write accurate service and inspection reports. Required Qualifications & Experience: Relevant trade qualification (Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology / ANZSCO Skill Level 3 equivalent).

Minimum of 1 to 3 years of post-qualification hands-on workshop experience. Demonstrated technical competency in engine diagnostics, auto-mechanical repairs, and vehicle maintenance. Valid Australian Driver’s Licence (or eligible equivalent to drive client vehicles).

Strong leadership, communication, and workshop management capabilities. EV/Hybrid safety or servicing certification is highly regarded but not mandatory.
