Job summary

Silver Star Enterprises Pty Ltd in Thomastown, VIC, invites applications for a skilled Motor Mechanic to perform servicing, testing and diagnosis on a wide range of vehicles.

You will diagnose faults, service engines, transmissions and brakes, and work both independently and with a team to ensure timely repairs. Diesel, hybrid and EV experience preferred; a valid manual license is required.

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate III & IV in motor mechanic or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years in a commercial workshop.
• Experience with diesel, AWDs/4WDs, hybrids and EVs.
• Experience using OBD-II diagnostic tools.
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive manual vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Change engine oil, filters, and mounts.
• Repair or replace faulty parts by removing engines, transmissions.
• Inspect and service differentials, suspensions, brakes.
• Check electrical systems and lighting.
• Diagnose and repair engine management and fuel systems.

The Client

Silver Star Enterprises Pty Ltd located in Thomastown in VIC is now looking to hire a motivated individual to join their successful team as a Motor Mechanic.

The Role

As a Motor Mechanic, it is essential that you have the passion to carry out mechanical servicing duties in an effective and timely manner. Your primary role is to carry out testing, diagnosing and troubleshooting major faults and overhauling engines of motor vehicles and parts such as transmissions, suspension, steering and brakes of a wide range of motor vehicle types.

The annual salary is set between $80,000 to $90,000 plus superannuation. The Motor Mechanic role is based in Thomastown in VIC.

The Responsibilities

Some tasks may include

• Changing of engine oil filters, fuel filter engine and transmission mounts.


• Repairing or replacing worn and faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions and differentials.


• Removing and fitting differential, repairing and servicing of differential and driving shafts.


• Checking the overall electric power of various electric units such as headlight, parking light, sidelight, stop light, direction light, roof light etc.


• Diagnosing, repairing and replacing engine management, fuel injection components, tuning engines and making fine adjustments for smoother running.


• Coordinating with other mechanics where teamwork is needed.


• Servicing cooling system, flushing and changing radiator, hoses and water pump, brakes, transmission.


• Check and repair suspensions and wheel alignments of automotive vehicles.


• Checking parts and referring to manuals as necessary.


• Attending phone calls and putting the stock (for example brakes, sparkplugs, oil filters) at the proper places.


• Reviewing work orders.


• Maintain and manage tools, equipment and machinery in good condition.

The Requirements

• AQF Certificate III & IV in a related Motor Mechanic field


• At least 3 years of motor mechanical experience in a commercial workshop setting


• Must have at least 3 years' experience working with Intercontinental, European and Asian car makes


• Must have at least 3 years motor mechanical experience with diesels, AWDs, 4WDs,


• Must have at least 3 years experience with Hybrid and EV vehicles


• Must have at least 3 years experience using OBD-II diagnostic tools, workshop equipment and vehicle service information.


• Must have at least 3 years experience performing servicing, maintenance, and repair of engines, transmissions, and braking systems


• Experience working with mechanical systems


• Must know how to operate diagnostic equipment


• Good with hand and power tools.


• Capacity to solve issues/problem and find suitable resolutions


• Excellent work ethic and ability to strive for goals


• Hold a current driver's license and able to drive manual car.


• The ability to work independently and as part of a team


• Able to pass a drug and alcohol test
