THE TYRE FACTORY RAVENHALL PTY LTD – Ravenhall VIC is seeking a skilled automotive technician to perform scheduled logbook servicing, diagnose faults, maintain powertrains, and overhaul mechanical components across passenger and light commercial vehicles.

You will dismantle and inspect engine components, perform factory-specified repairs, and conduct road tests to ensure roadworthiness and regulatory compliance. Strong OH&S and clear communication are essential in a safety-critical team.

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate III with at least two years on-the-job training.
• 1–2 years of relevant post-qualification workshop experience.
• Manual driving licence required; strong OH&S understanding.
• Clear English communication for safety-critical team environments.

Responsabilités

• Detects and diagnoses faults in petrol engines and fuel systems using diagnostic tools.
• Dismantles engine assemblies and drive components; inspects wear and clearances.
• Repairs and overhauls components; reassembles to factory specs.
• Conducts scheduled maintenance and tune-ups per regulations.
• Performs road tests, calibrates steering and suspension geometry.
• Completes vehicle safety inspections and prepares technical reports.

You will perform scheduled logbook servicing, advanced electronic fault diagnosis, powertrain maintenance, and mechanical component overhauls across a diverse range of passenger and light commercial vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

• Detects and diagnoses mechanical and electrical faults in petrol engines, fuel injection systems, transmissions, and suspension using computerised diagnostic scan tools.
• Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and drive components; inspect parts for wear and measure clearances.
• Repair, overhaul, and replace worn/defective components (clutches, brakes, timing chains, cylinder heads, gearboxes) and reassemble to factory specifications.
• Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance and engine tune-ups to achieve smooth operation and ensure compliance with pollution and road safety regulations.
• Perform post-repair road testing, verify mechanical adjustments, and calibrate steering/suspension geometry.
• Conduct vehicle safety inspections and compile technical reports for roadworthiness certifications.

Skill & Experience

• AQF Certificate III, including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
• Minimum of 1 to 2 years of relevant post-qualification workshop experience.
• Valid Driver’s Licence (manual capability required).
• Strong technical communication skills and dedication to workshop Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S).
• English language proficiency, suitable for clear communication in safety-critical team environments and immigration compliance requirements.
