Job description

This is a full-time (Monday to Friday) hands‑on senior mechanic role for someone with broad mechanical knowledge, strong diagnostic skills and experience. We're looking for technical leadership: someone who leads by example, shares their knowledge, maintains high standards and helps the workshop operate efficiently and plays an important part in maintaining the quality and reputation of our workshop. You won't be responsible for managing staff, that sits with our Service Manager and management team.

Key responsibilities

Diagnose, service and repair a wide range of vehicle makes and models.

Help maintain a consistently high standard of workmanship across the workshop.

Complete servicing and repairs efficiently, safely and to a high standard.

Apply strong petrol and diesel knowledge, with opportunities to work on hybrid and electric vehicles within your training and capabilities.

Accurately record diagnostic findings, repairs completed and any additional work identified.

Provide practical technical support, guidance and mentoring to mechanics and apprentices when required.

Communicate professionally and work alongside the team to keep the workshop running smoothly.

Maintain a clean and organised bay and workshop.

Follow all workplace health and safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

About you

Minimum of five (5) years experience as a qualified and experienced light vehicle mechanic.

Broad experience across different makes and models rather than specialising in just one brand.

Strong petrol and diesel mechanical knowledge.

Confident with complex diagnostics and fault finding.

Can work independently and use sound judgement to determine the best approach to a repair.

Takes pride in the quality of their workmanship and gets jobs right the first time.

Organised, reliable and follows jobs through to completion.

Works well with others and is willing to share knowledge and lend a hand.

Can provide technical guidance and mentoring without needing to formally manage staff.

Holds a current Australian driver's licence.
