Job summary

BUMA Australia is expanding its Goonyella maintenance team and seeks a dedicated Minor Plant Fitter to work both in the field and workshop on light, medium vehicles and mining gear. You will repair, modify and refurbish equipment following manufacturer specifications, with a focus on reliability and safety.

The role requires strong planning, the ability to work independently, and familiarity with OEM software and SAP.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as LV Mechanic or equivalent.
• Tickets for working at heights and confined spaces.
• Familiar with OEM software and SAP.
• Strong planning and scheduling abilities; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on light vehicles, medium vehicles and mining ancillary equipment.
• Repair, modify and refurbish surface mining equipment per manufacturer specs.
• Scope jobs, order parts and coordinate with Maintenance Planners.
• Complete pre-start checks prior to operation.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical, engine and hydraulic issues.
• Uphold BUMA Values and Standards of Business Conduct.
• Participate in training as directed by Maintenance Supervisor.

About The Role

We are looking for a dedicated Minor Plant Fitter to join our dynamic maintenance team at Goonyella. In this role, you’ll work both in the field and in the workshop, performing a wide range of tasks including the repair, modification, and refurbishment of surface mining equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Performing maintenance on light vehicles, medium vehicles, and mining ancillary equipment
• Conducting repairs and servicing in line with manufacturer specifications
• Scoping jobs, ordering parts, and working closely with Maintenance Planners
• Completing pre-start checks on vehicles prior to operation
• Diagnosing and resolving issues with electrical, engine, and hydraulic systems
• Acting in accordance with BUMA’s Values and Standards of Business Conduct
• Participating in training as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor

About You

• Relevant trade qualification (e.g. LV Mechanic or equivalent)
• Working at heights and confined space tickets (or willingness to obtain)
• Familiarity with OEM software and SAP (desirable)
• Strong planning and scheduling abilitiesAble to work independently with minimal supervision

Goonyella

Located in the Bowen Basin of Central Queensland, BMA’s Goonyella Mine is one of Queensland’s largest coal mines. It is situated approximately 30 kilometres from the town of Moranbah.

BUMA Australia provide labour, supervision, technical support and mobile plant to perform truck and excavator pre-strip operations.
