BUMA Australia is seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join the Goonyella Riverside Mine maintenance team. This hands-on leadership role supports safe, quality maintenance outcomes through effective planning and practical technical support.

You will lead trades and service personnel, coordinate labour, parts and materials, and promote a strong safety culture while ensuring proper documentation and records. This role is based at Moranbah, Central Queensland.

About the Role:

BUMA Australia is seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join our maintenance team at Goonyella Riverside Mine. This hands-on leadership position will work closely with the Maintenance Superintendents and broader maintenance team to support safe, quality maintenance outcomes through positive day-to-day leadership, effective work planning and practical technical support.

Key responsibilities include

Provide visible, hands-on leadership to trades and service personnel.

Support daily work planning, prioritisation and task allocation.

Assist with maintenance activities and provide technical advice on repairs.

Coordinate labour, parts and materials to support scheduled work.

Promote a strong safety culture through inspections, observations and hazard reporting.

Ensure tools, equipment and work areas are maintained to a safe standard.

Clearly communicate work scopes, timeframes and quality expectations.

Ensure inspections, repairs, work orders and required records are completed accurately.

Coordinate subcontract employees and provide Supervisor leave coverage when required.

You are technically capable, approachable and willing to lead from the front. You are comfortable working alongside the crew while keeping sight of the bigger picture to ensure work is properly planned, resourced and completed safely.

Strong maintenance and technical knowledge within a mining or heavy industry environment.

Demonstrated ability to lead, support and coordinate tradespeople.

A proactive and uncompromising approach to safety.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.

Sound planning, prioritisation and problem-solving skills.

The ability to provide practical technical guidance and support to the team.

A strong understanding of safe maintenance practices and accurate work documentation.

Located in the Bowen Basin of Central Queensland, BMA's Goonyella Mine is one of Queensland's largest coal mines and is situated approximately 30 kilometres from Moranbah. BUMA Australia provides labour, supervision, technical support and mobile plant to perform truck and excavator pre-strip operations.
