Job summary

HVO is seeking an enthusiastic Mining Supervisor to lead a team of operators and step-up supervisors. The role reports to the Mining Coordinator and offers development through mentoring from senior managers, with exposure to a large, dynamic pit.

You should have an Open Cut Examiner certificate and current practising certificate, plus extensive mining experience, including complex operations. A strong leader who can build relationships across departments is essential.

Job Description
About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual with an interest in mining to join our team at HVO. Reporting to the Mining Coordinator, this role is responsible for providing strong leadership to meet Mining and organisational targets. This position provides the perfect development platform - with the opportunity to work with other highly experienced OCE's, receive mentoring from Superintendents and Managers in the business, and gain invaluable exposure to a large and dynamic pit. Whether you are an experienced Mining Supervisor looking to stretch yourself and ready yourself for the next step in your career or have recently got your OCE ticket - this is not a role that you can look past!

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing leadership and direction to a team of mining operators and step-up supervisors.
  • Mentoring up-and-coming step ups.
  • Fostering an inclusive and positive culture.
  • Maintaining a high level of positive safety performance and workplace culture through teamwork, personal commitment, and application of the company values.
  • Coordinating mining activities to optimise production.
  • Ensuring coal is prepared for delivery in accordance with both daily and weekly plans to achieve agreed benchmark performance levels of safety, quality and production rates for the operation.
  • To support the Operation in terms of managing resources effectively and working closely with Dispatch, Mine Services and Drill & Blast to ensure short-term prioritisation of tasks are identified and completed.
  • To ensure compliance with all HSEC and legislative requirements.

12.5hr D/N Rotating Roster Based on site at HVO

About You
  • Passion for driving performance through effective leadership.
  • Open Cut Examiners Certificate of Competency and current practising certificate.
  • Extensive experience in the industry.
  • Experience in a complex mining situation such as steep dipping seems and underground workings.
  • Proven leadership capabilities and ability to lead a diverse team.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to build and foster strong working relationships with your team and across all departments.
  • Ability to make and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Location and Operations

Hunter Valley Operations (HVO) produces some of the world’s highest quality thermal and semi-soft metallurgical coal for export. Our operation comprising of HVO North and HVO South - are in Lemington near the NSW Upper Hunter town of Singleton. Considering a career with HVO? Our operation contains two Coal Handling Preparation Plants (CHPPs) and two train loadout facilities and produces a combined 14 million tonnes (Mt) of annual output of thermal and semi-soft coal.
