Job summary

Glencore is seeking a hands-on Accountant for the Hunter Valley Operations. Reporting to the Senior Mine Accountant, you will handle ledger reconciliation, financial reporting and ensure compliance in daily financial activities.

The role focuses on end-of-month processes, budgeting, forecasting and life-of-mine planning. You will work closely with a range of stakeholders, mentored to develop your skills, and gain exposure to mining operations.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in accounting or related discipline.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Support ledgers with reconciliation and timely financial reporting.
• Involvement in end of month, budgets, forecasting and life of mine planning.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across HVO and external teams.
• Mentor and develop while increasing commercial acumen.

Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Mine Accountant, you will be responsible for taking a hands-on and proactive role in the support of the financial and operational functions of the business. We are looking for that inquisitive person who enjoys numbers and working with a genuine appreciation for the structured, day-to-day responsibilities of accounting, including ledger reconciliation, financial reporting, and ensuring ongoing compliance and accuracy in all financial matters.

About the Role

• Dynamic & diverse position that draws on management and financial accounting skills
• Involvement in key commercial activities including end of month, budgets, forecasting and life of mine planning
• Working closely with a variety of stakeholders across each key area within HVO and outside of the organisation
• The successful candidate will also be provided with the opportunity to be mentored and developed whilst honing existing skills and increasing your commercial acumen.
• You will join a supportive team who are open to change and continuous improvement whilst gaining understanding of the operational and technical aspects of Mining.

Roster and Location

• Monday to Friday professional roster
• Based on site at HVO (off Lemington Road)

About You

• Tertiary qualifications in accounting or a related discipline
• Interest in numbers and processes
• A team player who is confident working independently
• Clear communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Highly motivated individual with ability to successfully drive change
• Sound ability to interrogate data and understand "the why"
• Ideally, the successful candidate will be working towards, or open to, gaining CPA or CA accreditations (education assistance provided)
