Job summary

MIGAS Apprentices and Trainees in Coppabella, QLD, invites applicants to join a four-year Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic Apprenticeship with Stanmore at the Poitrel Coal Mine. You will learn on some of the largest mobile mining equipment and earn the MEM31419 Certificate III in Engineering – Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic.

In year one you’ll work a 9-day fortnight on 12‑hour shifts and may need to travel to camp accommodation in Coppabella.

Qualifications

Genuine passion for mechanical work and a desire to build a career in the trade.
Willingness to listen, learn and actively seek new learning opportunities.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Strong commitment to safety.
Successful completion of Year 12, with satisfactory results in Mathematics.
Strong interest in automotive, mechanical or engineering work.
Completion of, or near completion of, an automotive/engineering pre-apprenticeship (desirable).
Ability to pass Pre-Employment Medical, Coal Mine Workers' Health Scheme, Standard 11, Drug and Alcohol Screening, and Police Check.

Responsibilities

Learn to inspect, maintain, diagnose and repair heavy mobile mining equipment and machinery.
Develop hands-on skills under experienced tradespeople.
Contribute to a safe, productive mining site with a focus on quality workmanship.
