Job summary

MIGAS Apprentices and Trainees in Coppabella, QLD, invites applicants to join a four-year Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic Apprenticeship with Stanmore at the Poitrel Coal Mine. You will learn on some of the largest mobile mining equipment and earn the MEM31419 Certificate III in Engineering – Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic.

In year one you’ll work a 9-day fortnight on 12‑hour shifts and may need to travel to camp accommodation in Coppabella.

Qualifications

• Strong commitment to safety.
• Successful completion of Year 12, with satisfactory results in Mathematics.
• Strong interest in automotive, mechanical or engineering work.
• Completion of, or near completion of, an automotive/engineering pre-apprenticeship (desirable).
• Ability to pass Pre-Employment Medical, Coal Mine Workers' Health Scheme, Standard 11, Drug and Alcohol Screening, and Police Check.

Responsibilities

• Learn to inspect, maintain, diagnose and repair heavy mobile mining equipment and machinery.
• Develop hands-on skills under experienced tradespeople.

Kickstart your career in the mining industry with a Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic Apprenticeship at Poitrel Mine near Moranbah.

This is your opportunity to learn from experienced tradespeople while working on some of the largest mobile mining equipment in the industry.

Undertaking this four-year apprenticeship at the StanmorePoitrel Coal Minewill provide you with the opportunity to become trade qualified while earning your MEM31419 Certificate III in Engineering - Fixed and Mobile Plant Mechanic.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will develop the skills and knowledge required to inspect, maintain, diagnose and repair a range of heavy mobile mining equipment and machinery.

During your first year, you will work a 9-day fortnight on 12-hour shifts, gaining valuable hands-on experience in a real mining environment.

Depending on your home location in the Bowen Basin, travel would be required to the camp accommodation site (Coppabella). Please note this position is drive-in/drive-out (DIDO).

• Residence in, or willingness to relocate to, Moranbah or the Bowen Basin region
