Job summary

Anglo American Steelmaking Coal seeks an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead maintenance targets and ensure safe, reliable operation of mining equipment. You will guide the Long-Term Planner and Maintenance Supervisors to optimise availability and performance in line with the Coal Mining Act.

This statutory role requires developing robust electrical practices and leadership across the workforce, with focus on compliance and cost-effective strategies for the underground operation.

Qualifications

• Electrical trade qualification with extensive underground coal mining experience.
• Coal Mining Competencies recognised by the Coal Mining Safety & Health Advisory Committee.
• Engineering qualifications (tertiary) and maintenance management knowledge.
• Underground Electrical Engineering Manager Certificate of Competency issued by Board of Examiners.
• Experience in asset management and maintenance planning.
• Strong leadership to influence and coach across teams.
• Knowledge of statutory electrical compliance in underground coal mining.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with electrical engineering standards and practices across the mine.
• Maintain statutory compliance for electrical plant, equipment and personnel.
• Develop and improve safe, reliable, and cost-effective electrical systems and procedures.
• Drive performance through engineering initiatives and equipment upgrades.
• Provide leadership by communicating strategies across the workforce.
• Establish training programs ensuring competency and compliance with legislation.
• Contribute to five-year maintenance and engineering planning.
• Develop rolling weekly maintenance plans to meet availability targets.
• Approve electrical plant design, specifications and qualifications.
• Oversee statutory electrical overhauls to required standards.
