Job summary

Glencore Collinsville is seeking an experienced Drill and Blast Operator for permanent full-time work in Collinsville, Queensland. The role involves following engineered plans, recording strata conditions, and ensuring safe, efficient operation of heavy earthmoving equipment on rotating day/night shifts.

Camp accommodation and meals are provided. The ideal candidate has open-cut mining drill experience, strong communication, and a solid commitment to risk management and production targets.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating blast hole drill rigs in open-cut mining.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of risk management and safe work practices.
• Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Commitment to achieving production targets safely.

Responsibilities

• Follow engineered plans and check drill hole quality and depth.
• Record strata conditions and report issues with drill reports and pre-starts.
• Maintain a positive attitude toward drill metres and rig utilisation.
• Operate heavy earthmoving equipment safely and efficiently.
• Work in a dynamic environment with a focus on continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Drill and Blast Supervisor, you will:

• Follow engineered plans and accurately check the quality and depth of drill holes.
• Record and report strata conditions that may affect blasting and any maintenance faults or issues through providing neat and complete associated documentation for drill reports, pre-starts etc.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude towards regular and reliable drill metres, rig utilisation and consumables usage.
• Provide safe and efficient operation of heavy earthmoving equipment.
• Be comfortable performing the full range of mining tasks in a dynamic and changing environment with a focus on continuous improvement.
