Job summary

SGS Australia is seeking a hands-on Sample Preparer at our Perth Airport laboratory. You will register, crush, mill and store mineral samples from mine sites, ensuring accuracy and safety to keep the laboratory workflow moving.

This 8-hour shift role rotates across morning, afternoon and night on a three-week roster. You’ll work in a dusty environment, lift samples around 3 kg, and follow established procedures and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

• Ability to work morning, afternoon and night shifts on a rotating roster.
• Comfort with physically repetitive work and standing for extended periods.
• Strong attention to sample identification, numbering and sequencing.
• Willingness to follow written and verbal instructions with limited supervision.
• Commitment to KPIs while maintaining safety and quality.
• Preference for candidates with lab experience or related qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Receive, register and organize core and bulk samples from mine sites.
• Prepare samples for analysis using crushing and milling equipment.
• Transfer prepared samples into bags or containers while preventing contamination.
• Load and unload samples from drying racks and maintain order.
• Complete sample preparation activities including weighing and screening.
• Work towards KPIs with safety, quality and accuracy in mind.
