Job summary

SustainRecruit is seeking a Mid-Level Java/Kotlin Engineer for a FinTech client on a 6-month rolling contract. The role is primarily remote with occasional attendance at the Sydney office.

You will build and maintain backend services, APIs and microservices using Java/Kotlin, AWS, Kafka and Kubernetes, contributing to scalable, cloud-native architectures and engineering best practices.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java and/or Kotlin.
• Experience building backend APIs and microservices.
• AWS cloud experience.
• Kafka or similar messaging/event-streaming experience.
• Kubernetes and containerisation experience.

Mid-Level Java / Kotlin Engineer - FinTech Contract | 6-Month Rolling Contract | Primarily Remote

Daily rate: $800-$950 p/d inc. Super

We’re working with a growing FinTech organisation looking for a Mid-Level Java / Kotlin Engineer to join their engineering team on an initial 6-month rolling contract.

This is a primarily remote opportunity working across modern, scalable backend systems, with a strong focus on clean code, engineering quality and best practices.

The Role

• Build and maintain backend services using Java and Kotlin
• Develop scalable microservices and APIs
• Work across event-driven and distributed architectures
• Build cloud-native solutions across AWS
• Work with Kafka for messaging and event streaming
• Deploy and operate containerised applications using Kubernetes
• Contribute to code reviews and engineering best practices
• Work closely with engineers, product and other technical stakeholders

What We’re Looking For

• Strong commercial experience with Java and/or Kotlin
• Experience building backend APIs and microservices
• AWS cloud experience
• Kafka or similar messaging/event-streaming experience
• Kubernetes and containerisation experience
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and clean coding practices
• FinTech, banking or financial services experience is beneficial but not essential

• $800-$950 per day including Super
• Initial 6-month rolling contract
• Primarily remote working with occasional Sydney office attendance
