Circuit Recruitment Group is partnering with a large Australian organisation to recruit a Senior Android Engineer. You will spend significant time improving the engineering foundations behind a large consumer-facing Android application, while remaining hands-on in Kotlin.

Contract: 6 months (strong view to extension)
Working Arrangement: Hybrid
We're partnering with a large Australian organisation looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join an exciting mobile technology environment.
This is not purely a feature delivery role. You'll spend a significant amount of your time improving the engineering foundations behind a large consumer-facing Android application, including architecture, build performance, developer tooling, automated delivery, application reliability and monitoring.
You'll remain hands‑on with Kotlin while helping improve the way a broader engineering group develops and ships Android software.
The Technical Environment
The Android environment includes Kotlin, Gradle, multi-module architecture, AWS and modern CI/CD practices, with tooling across Buildkite, Jenkins and Bitrise.
The team also works extensively across application monitoring and diagnostics, using technologies including Datadog, Bugsnag and Firebase.
You'll likely be working across areas such as:
What We're Looking For
We're particularly interested in engineers who have worked on large or technically complex native Android applications and have experience beyond building individual screens and features.
You should be comfortable getting into the underlying Android engineering environment, diagnosing difficult technical problems and improving tooling or processes used by other developers.
Strong Kotlin and Android experience is essential. Exposure to Gradle, CI/CD, AWS, observability tooling and automated testing will also be important.
Experience with Buildkite, Jenkins, Bitrise, Datadog, Bugsnag or Firebase would be valuable, although we're open to engineers who have worked with comparable technologies.
You’ll also need to be comfortable working with other experienced engineers, contributing to technical decisions and helping establish pragmatic engineering practices across a broader mobile environment.
This is a strong opportunity for an Android engineer who enjoys the platform and engineering enablement side of mobile development while still wanting to remain technically hands‑on.
