Job description

We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Java Developer to join a high-performing technology team delivering secure, large-scale enterprise applications and data platforms.

This is an opportunity for an experienced software engineer who enjoys staying hands‑on while also taking ownership of technical solutions, architecture and delivery. You’ll be working across Java, Spring Boot, Azure, microservices, APIs and distributed data platforms, solving complex engineering problems in a highly technical environment.

The role has a strong backend focus, but we’re looking for someone who is comfortable working across the full stack and understands how the different layers come together.

What you’ll be working on:

• Designing, developing, testing, deploying and supporting secure, scalable Java applications
• Building Spring Boot microservices, REST APIs and integrations
• Working across distributed systems, event-driven architectures and large-scale data platforms
• Designing end-to-end solutions across application, integration and data layers
• Working with high-volume data ingestion, processing, search and distribution platforms
• Troubleshooting complex production issues and performing root-cause analysis
• Optimising application performance, reliability and operational resilience
• Working across Azure cloud environments
• Contributing to CI/CD, automated testing and DevSecOps practices
• Taking ownership of solutions from initial requirements through to production support
• Providing technical leadership through design, code reviews, mentoring and knowledge sharing
• Contributing to architectural decisions, technical investigations and continuous improvement

We’re looking for someone with:

• 7+ years’ experience developing enterprise applications using Java
• Strong experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot
• Strong full-stack development experience across backend, frontend and integration technologies
• Experience with JPA/Hibernate, Maven, REST APIs and JSON
• Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems and event-driven architecture
• Experience working with large-scale data platforms and technologies such as Kafka, NiFi or Elasticsearch
• Strong SQL/database experience and an understanding of data modelling and query optimisation
• Experience with Git, Jenkins, CI/CD and automated testing
• Experience working with cloud platforms, ideally Microsoft Azure
• Strong understanding of secure coding, performance tuning and software engineering practices
• The ability to take ownership of complex technical outcomes and work with a high degree of autonomy
• React or Angular
• Docker and Kubernetes
• Terraform or Ansible
• Experience with modern observability platforms
• AI-assisted software engineering tools
