Job summary

SustainRecruit is seeking a Mid-Level Java/Kotlin Engineer for a FinTech client on a 6-month rolling contract. The role is primarily remote with occasional attendance at the Sydney office.

You will build and maintain backend services, APIs and microservices using Java/Kotlin, AWS, Kafka and Kubernetes, contributing to scalable, cloud-native architectures and engineering best practices.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial experience with Java and/or Kotlin.
• Experience building backend APIs and microservices.
• AWS cloud experience.
• Kafka or similar messaging/event-streaming experience.
• Kubernetes and containerisation experience.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services using Java and Kotlin.
• Develop scalable microservices and APIs.
• Work across event-driven and distributed architectures.
• Build cloud-native solutions across AWS.
• Work with Kafka for messaging and event streaming.
• Deploy and operate containerised applications using Kubernetes.
• Contribute to code reviews and engineering best practices.
• Work closely with engineers, product and other technical stakeholders.
