Job summary

NSW Health’s Gosford Hospital Microbiology department is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to fill temporary part-time and casual positions. Based in Gosford, you’ll perform a range of microbiology investigations, support automated and manual testing, and help maintain laboratory equipment.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution with subjects relevant to pathology or medical laboratory operations
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services within diagnostic microbiology, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Systems
• Ability to work in a team environment whilst delivering results within specified timeframes
• Customer focused approach with good oral and written communication skills
• Display initiative, problem solving and analytical skills and commitment to quality management and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory investigations and tests (manual and automated) and technical tasks as directed
• Prepare materials and maintain equipment in line with laboratory processes and protocols
