Job summary

K&F Fabrications on the Sunshine Coast specialises in bespoke architectural metalwork. We’re seeking a Metal Fabricator with strong TIG welding in aluminium and stainless, to lead by example in a small, quality-focused workshop.

You’ll interpret drawings, cut and assemble components, weld with MIG/TIG, fabricate balustrades and gates, inspect workmanship, and assist with site installations. A clear path to Foreman awaits the right candidate.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in a metal fabrication role.
• Advanced TIG welding in aluminium and stainless steel.
• Ability to read technical drawings and work from them.
• Desirable trade qualification in metal fabrication, not compulsory.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings, plans and specs to determine material needs and methods.
• Measure, cut, drill, shape and prepare components for assembly.
• Fit, align and assemble parts to specified tolerances.
• Weld aluminium and stainless steel using MIG/TIG processes.

Metal Fabricator - Aluminium & Stainless Specialist

K&F Fabrications has been delivering high-end architectural metalwork on the Sunshine Coast for over 30 years. Under new ownership since 2024, the business is being run the way a good fabrication shop should be - proper equipment, clear systems, and people who care about the quality of what goes out the door.

We do bespoke, high-quality work - custom architectural builds that take real skill, not bulk orders and repeat runs. The team is small by design, close-knit, and holds itself to a high standard.

We’re looking for a Metal Fabricator to step into a key role in our workshop - someone experienced enough to lead by example, set the standard for quality, and bring others up with them as we grow. For the right person, there’s a clear pathway into a Foreman role.

What You'll Do

• Interpret workshop drawings, architectural plans, technical specifications and job instructions to determine material requirements, fabrication methods, dimensions, tolerances and the appropriate sequence of operations.
• Measure, mark out, cut, drill, shape and prepare aluminium, stainless steel and other metal components using hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery in preparation for fitting and assembly.
• Fit, align and assemble fabricated metal parts and subassemblies, ensuring that components are positioned accurately and comply with specified measurements, tolerances and project requirements.
• Weld aluminium and stainless-steel components using appropriate welding processes and equipment, including MIG and TIG welding, to manufacture custom metal products and structural assemblies.
• Fabricate and assemble custom-made metalwork, including balustrades, handrails, pedestrian and driveway gates, pool fencing, privacy screens, pergolas and other architectural metal products.
• Inspect completed assemblies and welded joints for dimensional accuracy, alignment, weld penetration, finish and overall compliance with drawings, specifications and applicable quality standards.
• Grind, clean, polish and finish welded components, removing excess weld material and surface imperfections to prepare fabricated products for powder coating, installation or final delivery.
• Assist with the installation, adjustment, repair and maintenance of fabricated metal products on residential and commercial sites, while operating tools and equipment safely and complying with workplace health and safety procedures.
