Job summary

Government schools in Victoria seeks a Range 1 classroom teacher to develop and deliver programs across key learning areas, under guidance from higher-level teachers, and to plan, prepare, and teach programs aimed at achieving specific student outcomes.

You will work with a mentor, participate in induction and professional learning activities designed to ensure the integration of curriculum, assessment and pedagogy across the school.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the relevant curriculum with literacy and numeracy emphasis
• Ability to respond to diverse student learning needs
• Capacity to implement high impact teaching strategies and evaluate their impact on growth
• Ability to monitor and assess student learning and use data to inform practice
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; build collaboration with students, parents, colleagues and the school community

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a range of teaching programs or courses of study
• Teach an area of the curriculum or a general curriculum to a year level
• Monitor, evaluate and report student progress in key learning areas
• Implement strategies to achieve targets related to student learning outcomes
• Maintain attendance records and track student progress
• Establish and apply effective student management in line with the school charter
• Work with a mentor to participate in professional development planning, implementation and reflection for a professional portfolio
• Supervise student activities including welfare programs
• Contribute to co-curricular programs
