Job summary

Chrysalis, a Forensic Mental Health Service, seeks a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker in Adelaide. The role supports Chrysalis residents with psychosocial care, independent living skills, and activity coordination within a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed framework.

You will work across a 24/7 roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays, to promote recovery, safety, and community engagement. Relevant qualifications and a current SA driver’s licence are required.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Mental Health or equivalent is required.
• Current study in Social Work, Psychology, or equivalent is acceptable.
• Valid SA driver’s licence and current First Aid/CPR certificates.
• National Police Certificate and DHS checks as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide recovery-oriented, trauma-informed psychosocial support.
• Help residents achieve recovery goals and build independence.
• Assist with daily living skills and household tasks.
• Promote community participation and social connection.
• Support appointment attendance and medication management (self-administered).
• Facilitate social and recreational activities.
• Identify risks, de-escalate conflict and report incidents.
• Maintain accurate case notes and shift handovers.
• Collaborate with residents, colleagues and external support providers.
• Maintain a safe, supportive residential environment.
• Participate in team meetings, supervision and training.
• Work across a 24/7 roster, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
