Job summary

Latrobe Regional Health is seeking a Mental Health Clinician for the 0-11 Specialist Team to join the Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health Service on a part-time ongoing basis. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to provide specialist assessment, treatment and care coordination for children aged 0–11 years and collaborate with families, schools and community services.

About the role

Latrobe Regional Health is seeking a Mental Health Clinician - 0-11 Specialist Team to join our Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health Service on aPart-time ongoing basis. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist assessment, treatment, and care coordination for infants and children aged 0–11 years experiencing mental health difficulties. You will work closely with families, carers, schools, and community services to deliver developmentally informed, evidence-based care that supports positive outcomes for children and their support networks.

The role of the Mental Health Clinician – 0-11 Specialist Team is to:

  • Deliver comprehensive, age-appropriate mental health assessments, therapeutic interventions, and care planning for infants, children, and their families.
  • Provide a range of evidence-based interventions, including individual therapy, child-focused parent interventions, dyadic therapy, and family-based therapeutic approaches.
  • Coordinate care across health, education, disability, and community services, ensuring children and families receive integrated and holistic support.
  • Provide consultation, advice, and capacity-building support to internal teams and external stakeholders to enhance collaborative care and service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation, risk assessments, care plans, and outcome measures in accordance with legislative and organisational requirements.
  • Contribute to clinical leadership, quality improvement initiatives, supervision, professional development, and the continuous enhancement of child and family mental health services.
About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:

  • Qualified and registered Mental Health professional, including Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, or Speech Pathology, with relevant professional registration and/or membership requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience working within child and youth mental health services, with strong assessment, therapeutic intervention, and care coordination skills.
  • Sound knowledge of child development, mental health presentations in children, family-centred practice, and contemporary evidence-based mental health interventions.
  • Strong understanding of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022, child safety frameworks, family violence information-sharing legislation, and risk assessment processes.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, families, schools, and community partners.
  • Committed to recovery-oriented, culturally safe, trauma-informed, and family-inclusive practice, with a passion for improving outcomes for children and their families.
