Upward Life Family Practice in Cairns is seeking a friendly Medical Receptionist to join a supportive team and be the first point of contact for patients. You will help ensure smooth day-to-day operations and patient flow.
You will greet patients, manage bookings and billing, answer calls, and support GP and allied health staff with admin tasks. A minimum of one year in medical reception is preferred.

As a Medical Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our patients and an important part of the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.
You will work closely with our GPs, allied health professionals, nursing team and practice management to provide friendly, efficient and professional reception and administrative support.
Your duties will include:
Greeting and checking in patients
Managing patient information, enquiries and requests
Answering and directing a high volume of incoming calls, messages and correspondence
Managing all aspects of patient billing and payments
Liaising with external healthcare professionals when required
General administration including scanning, faxing and filing
Supporting your colleagues and contributing to the smooth running of the practice
Assisting the wider team wherever required
The successful applicant will have:
At least 1 year’s experience in medical reception or administration
Experience working in a busy, high-volume environment
Previous experience in a GP practice or allied health setting (desirable)
Experience with Best Practice or similar practice management software (desirable, but not essential)
A genuine commitment to working as part of a team
