Job summary

SwarmFarm Robotics is seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to ensure the performance, reliability, and quality of our autonomous farming robots. You will work hands-on with lidars, cameras, GPS units, embedded systems and collaborate with software and robotics teams to integrate, test, troubleshoot, and improve the platform.

Your hands-on approach will drive product quality, customer experience, and the evolution of our robotics ecosystem through field testing on commercial farms and cross-functional

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree or trade experience in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong hands-on skills in wiring electronics and repairing hydraulic issues.
• Familiarity with oscilloscopes or multimeters and test equipment.
• Ability to work in outdoor field environments, including farms, with field testing and data collection.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and integrate hardware systems including lidars, cameras, GPS units, and embedded devices.
• Collaborate with development, robotics, and partners to ensure seamless hardware/software integration.
• Commission SwarmConnect products and design reliable test setups across mechanical, electrical, and software layers.
• Conduct field testing on commercial farms and collect high-quality data for improvements.
• Troubleshoot issues across mechanical, electrical, and software domains and provide actionable feedback.

PURPOSE

The Mechatronics Engineer is responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability, and quality of our autonomous farming robots. You will work hands-on with cutting-edge hardware lidars, cameras, GPS units, embedded systems and collaborate closely with software and robotics teams to integrate, test, troubleshoot, and continuously improve the platform. Your insights and problem-solving will directly influence product quality, customer experience, and the evolution of our robotics ecosystem.

Qualifications

Experience, Education and/or Knowledge

• Bachelor's or Master's degree or trade experience in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong hands-on skills and experience in areas such as; wiring up electronics, fixing hydraulic issues, etc.
• Familiarity with industry-standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes or multimeters
• Ability and willingness to work in outdoor field environments, including commercial farms, and experience with field testing and data collection.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Hardware & System Integration

• Install, configure, and integrate advanced hardware systems including lidars, cameras, antennas, GPS units, and embedded devices.
• Collaborate with development, robotics, and SwarmConnect partners to integrate new hardware and ensure seamless operation across mechanical, electrical, and software components.
• Commission SwarmConnect products, ensuring correct operation and smooth onboarding into the system.
• Design, build, and maintain reliable test setups that span mechanical, electrical, and software layers.

Testing & Validation and Field Operations

• Conduct field testing on commercial farms, running structured test plans and collecting high-quality data to support continuous improvements.
• Perform functional, regression, and end-to-end testing across hardware and software to ensure system reliability and readiness for release.
• Work closely with the development team to execute test plans, identify defects, and provide clear, actionable feedback for improvements.
• Assist technical support teams to quickly troubleshoot and resolve escalated issues, ensuring our commercial fleet remains operational.

Problem Solving, Diagnostics and Issue resolution

• Investigate complex technical issues across mechanical, electrical, and software domains, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Apply strong analytical and debugging skills to improve system stability and eliminate recurring issues.
• Support integration partners by diagnosing problems, validating fixes, and ensuring compatibility with SwarmFarm systems.

Tools, Automation & Technical Enablement

• Develop and maintain software tools and scripts to streamline testing, data analysis, system diagnostics, and integration workflows.
• Contribute to scalable testing processes, documentation, and internal toolkits that enhance engineering productivity and system reliability.
