Job description

Deployment and Service Technician - Agri Robotics and Autonomous Technology

Want to work at the intersection of agriculture, robotics, and autonomous technology?

Agri Automation Australia is growing rapidly, with Queensland as our largest market. We are seeking a technically capable and customer-focused Deployment, Support and Field Technician to help growers deploy and operate agricultural robotics and autonomous systems.

Based in Southeast Queensland, you will combine hands-on commissioning, troubleshooting and operator training at customer sites with remote technical support. The role involves regular travel throughout the state, including remote locations, with occasional interstate travel. You will be working closely with our internal technical team and our international technology partners.

We work with growers and leading horticultural businesses to add value and improve operational efficiency and deliver real-world productivity gains. This role is about much more than servicing equipment – this is about you taking cutting-edge technology within robotics and autonomous systems from deployment through to successful day-to-day operations in the field.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Deploying agricultural robots, implements and autonomous systems on customer sites.
  • Installing and commissioning autonomous tractor operation systems.
  • Setting up and configuring robotics, autonomy, GPS/RTK, communications and supporting technology.
  • Troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, software, networking and connectivity systems.
  • Providing both on-site and remote technical support to customers.
  • Confidently training and supporting customers in mapping, deployment and operation of autonomous systems, both on-site and remotely.
  • Supporting integration between autonomous platforms and agricultural implements.
  • Assisting with testing and development of new equipment, technology and integrations.
  • Working with our internal team and international technology partners to resolve technical issues.
Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone passionate about technology and agriculture with a proactive, practical and problem-solving mindset.

You may come from agricultural machinery, IT/networking, mechatronics, automation, electronics or technical field service. More important than fitting one particular background is having the technical aptitude and attitude to learn.

Ideally, you’ll bring:
  • Experience with agricultural machinery, automation, mechatronics, electronics or technical field service.
  • Strong IT and networking capability, including hardware configuration, software and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Confident and patient communication skills and the ability to train and guide customers effectively whether remotely or on-site.
  • A structured, process-driven approach to customer training and deployment.
  • Experience or an interest in GPS, RTK, GIS, mapping and related technologies.
  • The ability to work independently in the field while contributing to a wider technical team.

You don’t need to know everything on day one. We are looking for someone who is technically curious, practical, confident with customers and enjoys working through problems. In this emerging field, not every problem comes with a service manual.

Why Work With Us?
  • Be part of an innovative Australian AgTech team helping reshape agriculture through robotics and autonomy.
  • Work hands-on with next-generation technology being commercially deployed on farms today.
  • Build experience across robotics, autonomous machinery, precision agriculture, GPS/RTK, networking and automation.
  • Enjoy genuine variety – from deploying systems in the field to remotely helping a customer solve a problem.
  • Work directly with growers and innovative agricultural businesses across Australia.
  • Contribute to the testing and development of new technologies and solutions.
  • Work with leading international technology partners while helping adapt and develop solutions for Australian conditions.
  • Build a career in an industry that is only going to become more important as agriculture moves toward greater automation.

If you enjoy technology, machinery and solving real-world problems, and want a role where you can see the direct impact of your work, we’d like to hear from you.

This is an opportunity to become part of a growing team at the forefront of practical agricultural robotics and autonomy in Australia.
