Job summary

RCPA Mechanical Maintenance Fitter in Thornton is a hands-on role focused on plant reliability and safety. You will perform preventative and breakdown maintenance, identify root causes of failures, and contribute to capital improvement projects.

You will join a structured maintenance team with strong WHS practices, supporting safe, efficient operations and continuous improvement across a 10-hour shift schedule, with overtime opportunities on Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Experience in preventative maintenance in a structured manufacturing environment.
• Experience in a maintenance team delivering maintenance KPIs.
• Strong commitment to WHS and risk management.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• ARC & MIG welding skills; TIG optional.
• Intermediate computer skills.

• Performing preventative and breakdown maintenance

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on maintenance role within a structured manufacturing environment where safety, accountability and continuous improvement matter.

You will play a key role in ensuring plant reliability and minimising downtime by:

• Performing preventative and breakdown maintenance

• Identifying and rectifying root causes of equipment failures

• Contributing to capital improvement projects

• Supporting safe and efficient plant operations

• Identifying and implementing improvement opportunities

• Following all WHS directives and safety procedures

Hours: Monday to Friday (10-hour shifts)
Overtime: Available (including preventative maintenance Saturdays)

Required skills, experience and qualifications:

• Working knowledge and application of preventative maintenance strategies

• Has been working/has worked in a maintenance team with standard, structured work with accountability for delivery of maintenance KPI's

• A great attitude and genuine desire to produce high quality results

• High level knowledge & commitment to WHS and risk management

• Sound verbal and written communication skills

• Mechanical engineering/Fitter and Turner qualification

• Intermediate computer skills

• ARC & MIG welding skills (TIG optional)

• Experience working in a manufacturing or similar environment

• Ability to work individually or as a team member

Desirable:

• Experience in using a Computerised Maintenance System MEX

• Working at Heights ticket

• Rigger or Dogman ticket

• Boom/ Scissor lift

• Forklift ticket

Ability to work Overtime as required
