Job summary

Programmed is seeking a Mechanical Apprentice to join the Sydney Water team in Western Sydney. You will learn to install and assemble metal parts while gaining hands-on, on-site experience and formal training at TAFE.

The four-year apprenticeship offers real progression opportunities within the Programmed family. Eligible applicants should have Year 10 or equivalent; a driver’s license is preferred but not essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of Year 10 or equivalent.
• Completion of a relevant pre-apprenticeship course is advantageous.
• Willingness to learn and contribute to a safe work environment.
• Interest in pursuing a long-term career in facility maintenance and trades.

Responsibilities

• Learn to install and assemble metal parts for service or repair of equipment.
• Work in workshop settings and at client sites under supervision.
• Learn hands-on and on-the-job skills while completing TAFE training.
• Possibility to progress into leadership roles such as Supervisor or Manager in future.

The Role

Due to continued growth we are looking for hardworking and enthusiastic individuals to join our Sydney Water team as a MechanicalApprentice, based inWestern Sydney you will be working for the West Region Delivery Team. You will be working closely with qualified and experienced tradespeople, Supervisors and even other Apprentices, you will gain valuable skills & knowledge to ultimately secure your trade qualification.

As a Mechanical Apprentice you will learn how to install and assemble parts made from metal and other materials to service or repair various equipment and machinery for industrial purposes, and will have exposure to working in a workshop environment as well as client sites. Your week will incorporate learning the trade at TAFE and receiving hands-on, on-the-job training.

We will invest in you over the four year apprenticeship so you can continue your career with us, with potential to move into Leadership roles such as a Supervisor orManager in the future. An apprenticeship can open up a world of possibilities.

Skills and Experience

• Motivation to succeed and a willingness to learn;
• Values team work and has a positive attitude to working in a safe and productive manner;
• Ability to follow direction with excellent attention to detail;
• The ability to listen and understand customer and company requirements;
• Commitment to building a long term career;
• Completion of Year 10 or equivalent;
• A current Drivers License is preferred, but not essential; and
• Completion of a relevant pre-apprenticeship course is advantageous, but not essential.
