Job description

Clarks Mining Services is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team at our Unanderra, NSW facility. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to apply your mechanical expertise in a dynamic mining services environment. As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for assembling, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment and machinery, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards across our operations. This role is integral to maintaining our equipment reliability and supporting the smooth operation of our mining services business.

Key responsibilities

Assemble, install and commission mechanical equipment and machinery components according to specifications and technical drawings

Perform routine maintenance, inspections and repairs on mechanical systems and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation

Diagnose mechanical faults and defects using appropriate testing equipment and problem-solving techniques

Disassemble and reassemble complex mechanical assemblies, ensuring precision and adherence to safety protocols

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs and equipment performance

Liaise with other tradespeople, engineers and site supervisors to coordinate work activities and ensure project deadlines are met

Comply with all health, safety and environmental regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support the development of safer work practices

What we're looking for

A recognised Trade Certificate III in Engineering or Mechanical Fitting, or equivalent qualification and demonstrated experience

Substantial hands-on experience as a Mechanical Fitter, ideally within mining, heavy industry, or a similar demanding environment

Experience with engines, air motors and gearboxes is ideal

Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints and specifications

Competency in using a range of mechanical tools, precision measuring instruments and workshop equipment

Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues independently

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality workmanship

A solid understanding of health and safety principles, with demonstrated commitment to working safely

Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour

Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team

Current driver's licence and willingness to obtain any additional certifications required for the role
