Job summary

Alfabs Mining is expanding its workshop team in Kurri Kurri, NSW, and seeks skilled Mechanical Fitters to service underground mining equipment. The role focuses on maintenance, diagnostics, repair and overhauls to the highest safety and reliability standards, with no FIFO required.

You can choose casual or permanent employment, with the option of 4x10 or 5x8 shifts plus overtime, Monday to Friday days. Experience with underground diesel mining machinery and a proactive safety mindset are

Qualifications

• Trade qualification – Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing underground diesel machinery.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic and diagnostic fault-finding capabilities.
• Experience undertaking component rebuilds and major mechanical overhauls.
• EXDes Code experience – highly desirable.
• Underground Diesel OEM experience – desirable.
• Licensed ExDEs Workshop or CP experience or RP experience – desirable.
• A proactive approach to safety, teamwork and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain underground mining equipment, including LHDs, and auxiliary equipment.
• Fault-find and repair diesel engines, transmissions, gearboxes, differentials, braking and steering systems and hydraulic components.
• Undertake major component change-outs, rebuilds and overhauls, including engines, torque converters, pumps and hydraulic cylinders.
• Complete preventative maintenance, scheduled servicing, inspections and equipment testing.
• Accurately document repairs, maintenance activities and testing outcomes.
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality and workmanship.
