Job summary

EnerMech in Gladstone seeks an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our team. The role covers site and workshop fitting, machining, installation, and maintenance of fixed plant equipment, with a focus on safety and quality.

You will lead the work, mentor apprentices, and collaborate with project teams and QHSE reps to deliver reliable, high-standard outcomes on complex energy projects in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified with Certificate III in Mechanical Trade and essential safety qualifications.
• White Card, Confined Space, Gas Test Atmospheres are essential.
• Experience with hydraulics and water pumps is preferred; strong safety/quality focus.

Responsibilities

• Perform general fitting, machining, and fabrication work in site and workshop.
• Carry out on-site removal and installation of mechanical components.
• Conduct routine shutdown mechanical duties and maintenance on fixed plant equipment.
• Manage flange assembly and mechanical tasks; inspect tools and equipment.
• Supervise and mentor Trade Assistants and Apprentices as needed.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in toolbox talks.

The role

EnerMech is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our team in Gladstone. This is a full-time position suited to a motivated tradesperson who takes pride in their workmanship and thrives in a dynamic, team-focused environment.

You will carry out and lead fitting, welding, assembly, and installation works both on project sites and within our workshop. This role requires a proactive approach to safety, quality, and communication while working closely with workshop and project managers, trades personnel, and QHSE representatives.

• Perform general fitting, machining, and fabrication work (site & workshop).
• Carry out on-site removal and installation of mechanical components.
• Execute general shutdown mechanical duties and maintenance on fixed plant equipment.
• Conduct flange management and mechanical assembly work.
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Supervise and mentor Trade Assistants and Apprentices when required.
• Support implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Participate regularly in safety and toolbox meetings.

Requirements

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Swagelok and tubing experience highly regarded.
• 5 years experience with hydraulic and water pumps, including hose replacement and servicing.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proven ability to maintain high standards of safety and quality.
• Experience in shutdowns or fixed plant maintenance advantageous.
• Previous supervisory experience advantageous
