Canberra Light Rail Mechanical Maintenance Technician Job Description:

Company Overview:
Our valued rail services client is one of the leading Australian suppliers of rail vehicles & maintenance services.

Role: Certified Electrician, Electrical OR Mechanical Fitter to join their team on a rotating Day & Afternoon shift basis, based at the Canberra, ACT light rail maintenance depot.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on rolling stock according to production plans and policies.
2. Test, diagnose, and repair electronic, mechanical, and electrical components, including HVAC systems, using schematics.
3. Inspect bodywork, roofs, and undercarriages for wear or damage.
4. Warranty work, repair, or replacement of components and parts.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Australian Trade Diploma in Electrotechnology or Mechanical Fitting; Certification III required. Electrical License or dual electrical/mechanical trade highly desirable.
2. Experience in Rail, Rolling Stock, Light Rail, Bus, Automotive, Earth Moving, or Heavy Diesel Fitting.
3. Experience with bus vehicles, freight maintenance, or service activities is desirable.
4. Strong PLC fault finding, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and rectification skills.
5. Ability to read technical drawings and maintain detailed records.
