Job summary

The Midfield Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician to support the mechanical engineering team in maintaining and improving equipment across our operations. You will assist with design, assembly, installation and testing of mechanical systems to ensure safety and efficiency on site.

The Mechanical Engineering Technician will support Midfield's mechanical engineering team in the maintenance and continuous improvement of equipment and machinery. The role involves assisting with the design, assembly, installation, and testing of mechanical systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety standards. This position plays a crucial part in maintaining the efficiency of our operations, working closely with in-house engineers to enhance our mechanical plant systems and equipment.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing drawings, plans, and designs specific to Midfield’s mechanical equipment and plant
  • Support the design and selection of mechanical tools and equipment tailored to Midfield’s operations
  • Assemble and install new or modified mechanical assemblies and components, including hydraulic power systems and machine controls
  • Estimate material costs and quantities required for the installation and maintenance of plant machinery
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at optimizing the performance of Midfield's mechanical systems
  • Collect and analyse operational data to assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues with mechanical systems
  • Organize and oversee regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs of machinery and equipment
  • Ensure all designs and work meet Midfield’s specifications, safety regulations, and contract provision
Skills & Experiences
  • Experience in mechanical design, testing, data collection, and analysis
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in a manufacturing environment

Salary Range: AUD70,000 - AUD90,000
