Job summary

Randstad Defence in Canberra is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical engineering team, delivering bespoke components for remote weapon systems. You will guide design, risk assessment, and compliance activities, working under tight deadlines and across multidisciplinary groups.

Ideal candidates will have extensive mechanical design experience, leadership background, familiarity with defence standards, and a Chartered status or ACT registration eligibility.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' experience in mechanical design or similar role.
• 3+ years' experience leading teams and managing stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Defence regulatory frameworks and processes.
• Extensive knowledge of design standards incl. Australian Standards and ASME.
• Experience in 3D modelling and ANSYS software.
• Eligible for Chartered status and ACT registration.

Responsibilities

• Lead a mechanical engineering team ensuring timely delivery, staff professional development and continual capability growth.
• Manage and mentor staff.
• Identify and assess design risks, authorised as the Product Risk Acceptor for LOW risks.
• Ensure that design engineering work is done to defined quality standards, including effective information and configuration management.
• Develop and review engineering work with standards agreed with the Chief Engineer.

About the role:

The Mechanical Engineering Lead (Bespoke) evolves the Mechanical Engineering capability enabling EOS to deliver to business objectives, contributing to EOS' competitive advantage, and fostering future growth.

The Mechanical Engineering Lead (Bespoke) team develops additional bespoke parts for our world-leading Remote Weapon Stations, adapting the RWS to varied customer requirements within tight project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a mechanical engineering team ensuring timely delivery, staff professional development and continual capability growth.

• Familiarity with Defence regulatory frameworks and associated processes is desirable.
• Extensive knowledge of design, Australian Standards, ASME codes.
• Experience in design tools like 3D modelling, Ansys will be added advantage
• Eligible for charted status and registration in the ACT.
