Job summary

ProFound People is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to join our defence-focused team in Adelaide on a permanent basis. You will lead systems engineering across the full product lifecycle and mentor a small team of engineers.

You will apply extensive experience in requirements engineering, ICDs, interfaces, V&V, and configuration management to deliver complex, high-performance defence systems, working closely with customers and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Systems Engineering role within Aerospace & Defence.
• Degree in Systems, Electrical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Strong requirements engineering: capture, decomposition, traceability, verification & change management.
• System integration, integration planning and V&V experience.
• Knowledge of ICDs and interface control.
• Experience with configuration and baseline management.
• Experience producing artefacts for SRR, PDR, CDR and acceptance.
• Leadership or mentoring experience in engineering teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing communication.
• Australian Citizens eligible for Defence Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

My client designs complex, high-tech products and systems within the Aerospace & Defence sector. Following a period of significant growth and continued project success, they are looking for a Lead Systems Engineer to join their team in Adelaide on a permanent basis.

The Lead Systems Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• Proven experience in a Systems Engineering position within the Aerospace & Defence sector
• Degree qualified in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline
• Strong experience with requirements engineering, including capture, decomposition, traceability, verification and change management
• Experience with system integration, integration planning, Verification & Validation (V&V)
• Knowledge of interface definition and control, including the development of Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
• Experience with configuration management and baseline management processes
• Experience preparing engineering artefacts to support formal design reviews, including SRR, PDR, CDR and acceptance activities
• Previous experience leading or mentoring engineering teams would be highly desirable
• Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing communication skills
• Applicants must be Australian Citizens and be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance

• Leading Systems Engineering activities across the full product development lifecycle
• Managing and mentoring a small team of Systems Engineers
• Capturing, developing and managing system requirements throughout the project lifecycle
• Developing and maintaining Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and managing system interfaces
• Supporting configuration management and baseline control throughout development
• Producing and maintaining systems engineering documentation and technical data packs
• Preparing engineering artefacts and technical evidence for formal design reviews including SRR, PDR and CDR
• Working closely with customers and key stakeholders to ensure project requirements are achieved
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver complex, high-performance defence systems
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and contributing to the ongoing growth of the engineering function
