Job summary

TFG is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support project and fabrication works from enquiry through to completion. Based in Broadmeadows, you will assist Estimators and Operations so jobs are delivered safely, on budget, on spec and on time.

You will review drawings, source materials and equipment, compile MDRs, and handle other project tasks, while coordinating with Project Managers and site teams to keep schedules on track.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering required.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical engineering.
• AutoCAD or similar drafting software is essential.
• Current Class C driver's licence and willingness for site travel.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, codes, standards and procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and time management.

Responsibilities

• Support Estimators and Operations from enquiry and tender through to project completion.
• Complete site walk-throughs with the project team.
• Undertake MTOs from client drawings and raise RFQs for materials and hire equipment.
• Review drawings, make recommendations, and produce GA and fabrication drawings.
• Maintain document control and compile MDRs.
• Complete job reviews to confirm drawings and quality are being followed.
• Prepare purchase orders, liaise with suppliers and assess lead times versus cost.
• Assist with quoted-scope handovers to Project Managers and Site Supervisors.
• Support supplier evaluation and existing supplier relationships.
• Use job management and quoting software and contribute to project and scheduling meetings.

You will review customer drawings, complete job reviews, source materials and equipment, compile MDRs, and handle other project tasks. The role reports to the Engineering Coordinator and has no direct reports.

Key responsibilities

• Support Estimators and Operations from enquiry and tender through to project completion
• Complete site walk-throughs with the project team
• Undertake MTOs (Material Take Offs) from client drawings and raise RFQs (Request for Quotes) for materials and hire equipment
• Review drawings, make recommendations, and produce general arrangement and fabrication drawings as required
• Maintain document control and compile MDRs (Material Data Reports)
• Complete job reviews to confirm drawings and quality are being followed and issues are dealt with quickly
• Prepare purchase orders, liaise with suppliers and assess lead times versus cost
• Assist with quoted-scope handovers to Project Managers and Site Supervisors
• Support supplier evaluation and existing supplier relationships
• Use job management and quoting software and contribute to project and scheduling meetings

About you

• Degree in Engineering
• Minimum 3 years' experience
