Job summary

Design & Build Recruitment has a client seeking a Mechanical Draftsman to join an on-site team in Dandenong South, VIC. You will create detailed mechanical drawings and documentation, coordinating with Project Managers, Engineers and site teams to ensure constructible, compliant drawings.

You will lead design development through to as-built documentation, with exposure to HVAC, ductwork, pipework and related equipment on diverse projects across Melbourne.

Qualifications

• Experience as Mechanical Draftsman in construction or MEP
• Experience producing mechanical services drawings for commercial, industrial, infrastructure or similar projects
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD
• Experience with Revit / BIM is highly regarded
• Understanding of mechanical services including HVAC, ductwork, pipework and associated equipment
• Strong understanding of construction documentation and coordination
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and architectural documentation
• Strong attention to detail and a practical approach to problem solving

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed mechanical shop drawings, fabrication drawings and construction documentation
• Develop and modify drawings in line with project requirements and engineering specifications
• Work closely with Project Managers, Mechanical Engineers and Site Teams to ensure drawings are practical and constructible
• Coordinate mechanical services with electrical, hydraulic, structural and architectural disciplines
• Review designs and identify potential clashes, discrepancies or constructability issues
• Attend project and coordination meetings where required
• Incorporate site changes and provide accurate as-built documentation
• Assist with material take-offs and project documentation where required
• Ensure drawings are produced accurately and in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and project specifications
• Manage multiple drawing packages and project deadlines simultaneously
• Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders as required

With a strong reputation for quality project delivery, technical capability and long-term client relationships, the business is continuing to grow and is looking to add an experienced Mechanical Draftsman to its project delivery team.

About The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Draftsman to join a growing MEP contractor and work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Site Teams and other trades to produce accurate and constructible mechanical drawings.

You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from initial design development and coordination through to construction documentation and as-built drawings.

About You

We are looking for a technically capable Mechanical Draftsman who understands the realities of delivering mechanical services in a construction environment.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Mechanical Draftsman within the construction or MEP services industry
• Experience producing mechanical services drawings for commercial, industrial, infrastructure or similar projects
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD
• Experience with Revit / BIM would be highly regarded
• Understanding of mechanical services including HVAC, ductwork, pipework and associated equipment
• Strong understanding of construction documentation and coordination
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and architectural documentation
• Strong attention to detail and a practical approach to problem solving
• Ability to work collaboratively with project and site teams
• Excellent organisation and time-management skills
• Relevant Australian construction/MEP drafting experience
