Job summary

Valenhold is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Brisbane team. This hands-on role covers reverse engineering, product development and interface with workshop and OEM partners from concept through to manufacture.

You'll work on drivetrain products for mining fleets, applying CAD/FEA and contributing to continuous improvement, with travel to partner sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• RPEQ registration or eligibility to obtain it within 6 months.
• 5+ years' engineering experience with strong mechanical/product design experience.
• Strong 3D CAD and manufacturing drawing capability, with practical experience conducting FEA; PTC Creo experience is an advantage.
• Broad exposure across different components and stages of the design process.

Mechanical Engineer
Brisbane Southside | Full-time | $130–$140k + super | Immediate Start Available

For over 10 years, Valenhold has been helping keep Australia's biggest mining fleets moving. We design and deliver high-performance components and support that make heavy equipment more reliable and more sustainable.

As we continue to grow, we\'re looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team.

This is a hands-on engineering role with plenty of variety. You\'ll reverse engineer components, develop new products, design tooling and work directly with our workshop and manufacturing partners to see your designs through from concept to manufacture.

About the Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you\'ll work across the development and improvement of our VALC drivetrain product range, including wheel motor and final drive systems used in large mining haul trucks.

You\'ll take engineering work through analysis, design, manufacturing drawings and release, while contributing to product improvements and solving practical engineering problems along the way.

What You\'ll Do

• Develop and reverse engineer mechanical designs, taking work from initial problem through to manufacturing drawings and release


• Apply FEA to validate designs and support engineering decisions


• Work directly with our workshop to understand functional requirements and develop practical engineering solutions


• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners on new products and improvements


• Contribute to root cause analysis and solve practical product and technical issues


• Support design reviews, quality requirements and continuous improvement


• Occasional travel to client sites and our manufacturing partners overseas

About You

You\'re an experienced Mechanical Engineer who can work independently, take ownership of your designs and bring strong technical knowledge to the team. You\'ll be comfortable sharing that knowledge and becoming a go-to person for technical input within the team.

You\'re curious about how and why things work, comfortable challenging ideas and keen to understand what happens beyond the CAD model. You\'ll get out into the workshop, talk to the people building and working with the product and use that understanding to develop better engineering solutions.

Your experience may come from mining, OEM, rail, industrial machinery, automotive or another heavy mechanical environment. Experience with rotating equipment, drivetrain components or products incorporating electric motors is highly regarded, but strong transferable mechanical design experience is equally relevant.

You\'ll also bring

• 5+ years\' engineering experience, with strong mechanical or product design experience


• Strong 3D CAD and manufacturing drawing capability, with practical experience conducting FEA – PTC Creo experience is an advantage


• Broad exposure across different components and stages of the design process


• Strong practical problem-solving skills and the confidence to contribute ideas and challenge thinking


• A current C Class\'s driver\'s licence
