Job summary

Clarke Energy, a leading power generation company, seeks a Mechanical Design Draftsperson in Australia to deliver detailed mechanical designs and drawings for engines and CHP projects. You will collaborate with engineers across procurement, construction, and commissioning to ensure high-quality mechanical documentation.

The role requires solid drafting experience, strong CAD skills (AutoCAD, Plant 3D desirable), and the ability to manage multiple design tasks within EPC environments.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in mechanical drafting and design in industrial/EPC or turnkey projects.
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD; Plant 3D is desirable.
• Solid understanding of mechanical systems and fabrication processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical design drawings, layouts, material lists and project documentation from specifications and sketches.
• Develop fabrication drawings and design docs for civil, mechanical and structural systems.
• Coordinate design activities for tenders and project delivery.
• Liaise with consulting engineers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Provide mechanical design support during procurement, construction, commissioning and project execution.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Prepare mechanical design drawings, layouts, material lists and associated project documentation from specifications, concepts, site surveys and sketches.
• Develop detailed fabrication drawings and design documentation for civil, mechanical and structural systems.
• Coordinate design activities for tenders and project delivery.
• Liaise with consulting engineers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Provide mechanical design support during procurement, construction, commissioning and project execution phases.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that optimise design quality, standardisation and efficiency.

What You’ll Bring

• Demonstrated experience in mechanical drafting and design within industrial, EPC or turnkey project environments.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Plant 3D desirable
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication processes and engineering documentation.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and project deadlines.
