Job summary

ProFound People Pty Ltd is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a permanent role in Melbourne, VIC. You will design components and assemblies for heavy vehicles, develop 3D CAD models, and produce detailed drawings for fabrication.

You will work closely with manufacturing teams, suppliers, and cross-functional engineers, managing multiple projects to deadlines while maintaining BOMs and accurate technical documentation.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ experience in a Mechanical Design Engineering position.
• Experience designing parts for heavy vehicles, trucks, trailers or similar equipment.
• Highly skilled with 3D CAD, SolidWorks or Inventor (or similar).
• Experience designing fabricated components, sheet metal and structural steel.
• Good understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
• Experience producing detailed engineering and manufacturing drawings.
• Strong practical and hands-on approach to design.
• Experience working closely with manufacturing and fabrication teams.
• Able to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines.
• Able to maintain technical documentation and BOMs.
• Able to work well individually as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Developing and updating 3D models and engineering designs.
• Working closely with manufacturing and fabrication teams.
• Liaising with suppliers and external manufacturing providers.
• Creating and maintaining BOMs and technical documentation.
• Supporting the full design process from concept through to production.
• Assisting with prototype builds, testing and final assembly.
• Checking designs and drawings prior to manufacture.
• Working in a small, multi-disciplinary team on varied engineering projects.

SALARY - $110,000 - $130,000 per annum, dependent on experience

TYPE – Permanent

LOCATION – Melbourne, VIC

My client designs and manufactures bespoke heavy vehicle equipment. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Melbourne on a permanent basis.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• At least 2 years’ experience in a Mechanical Design Engineering position


• Previous experience designing parts for heavy vehicles, trucks, trailers or similar equipment
