Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Mechanical Design Drafter to join the engineering team in Paarl. This hybrid role translates concepts into detailed drawings and models for manufacturing, collaborating with engineers to ensure accuracy and standards compliance.

You will work on 2D/3D drawings, BOMs, and documentation, with a focus on GD&T and design intent, in a supportive team environment that blends on-site collaboration with remote flexibility.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in mechanical design drafting or related field.
• 2-4 years of experience as a mechanical design drafter or similar role.
• Proficiency in CAD software SolidWorks, AutoCAD or Inventor; GD&T knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings and models of mechanical parts and assemblies.
• Ensure drawings comply with industry standards, company specs and GD&T.
• Update and revise drawings based on engineering changes or feedback.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and documentation for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with engineers to clarify design intent and resolve issues.
• Maintain drawing archives and revision control.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a meticulous and skilled Mechanical Design Drafter to join their engineering team in Paarl. You will work closely with mechanical engineers, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry standards and company specifications. Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings and models of mechanical parts, assemblies, and systems using CAD software .
• Ensure drawings comply with industry standards, company specifications, and GD&T requirements.
• Update and revise existing drawings based on engineering changes or feedback.
• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and other documentation required for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with engineers to clarify design intent and resolve drafting issues.
• Maintain organized drawing archives and revision control systems.

Requirements

• Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Design Drafting or a related field.
• 2-4 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Drafter or similar role.
• Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor.
• Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
• Good communication skills for effective collaboration, both in-office and remotely.
