We connect our customers to opportunities that matter to them while delivering the next generation of rail travel to Sydney. With global expertise, we manage 66km of track and 31 stations, making the M1 one of the longest fully automated metro lines in the world.

We are seeking a Mechanical and Electrical Services Engineer to help safeguard the assets that support safe, reliable train and station operations. Supporting the Principal Engineer, you’ll combine technical expertise with practical asset management to improve performance, address maintenance challenges and support infrastructure projects.

Working with engineering colleagues, maintenance teams and delivery partners, you’ll contribute across the asset lifecycle, from maintenance planning and condition monitoring to testing, acceptance and defect close-out.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a role with awesome variety and exposure to maintaining assets in a world class rail operation.

What you’ll be doing
  • Support asset strategies, maintenance plans, schedules and asset registers for Building and Tunnel Services.
  • Monitor asset condition and performance, investigate failures and develop practical remedial actions to meet performance targets.
  • Support compliance obligations for electrical installations, essential fire safety measures, lifts, escalators and HVAC tunnel ventilation systems, hydraulics and building management systems.
  • Provide technical input into network expansion, improvement and maintenance projects, including requirements, scope reviews, asset acceptance and defect close out.
  • Work with internal teams and service providers on maintenance delivery, technical contract scopes and spare parts strategies.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance issues and elevate safety critical, operational and customer facing concerns.
  • Contribute to engineering instructions, business reporting and continuous improvement while supporting safety and environmental requirements.
About you

You’re a solutions focused engineer with excellent communication skills, who combines sound technical judgement with a practical approach to maintenance and asset reliability and defect identification. You have a strong background in mechanical and/or electrical services in particular in fire safety compliance and testing controls.

With demonstrated experience gained in rail, construction and/or or manufacturing, you can build productive stakeholder relationships, communicate technical issues clearly and take ownership of delivering safe outcomes.

You will also bring:

  • Recognised qualifications in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
  • Demonstrated engineering and maintenance experience, including preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance, ideally gained in rail or construction.
  • Experience implementing technical maintenance plans and using asset information systems, condition monitoring and failure analysis to improve reliability.
