We connect our customers to opportunities that matter to them while delivering the next generation of rail travel to Sydney. With global expertise, we manage 51.5km of track and 21 stations, with a planned expansion into southwest Sydney.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Planning & Analysis and Systems Manager to join our Finance & Business Services team. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this is a key role supporting new systems implementation and driving process and reporting enhancements across planning and month end workflows.

You’ll work across the business to drive finance transformation initiatives, enhance reporting and forecasting capability, improve financial processes and help shape fit-for-purpose systems and data solutions. From defining business requirements and future-state processes to developing dashboards and management reporting, you’ll play an important role in modernising the way financial information supports decision-making.

This is a temporary full-time opportunity for a period of 12 months. The position is based at our Tallawong office, with flexible working arrangements available.

Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Drive finance systems transformation, enhancements and reporting solutions.
  • Develop business requirements, functional specifications and future-state process designs.
  • Drive improvements across budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and management reporting.
  • Shape month end workflow and reconciliation automation.
  • Develop business dashboards incorporating financial and non-financial KPIs.
  • Enhance financial processes, controls, data quality and reporting efficiency.
  • Champion best-practice business intelligence and financial data management.
  • Partner with Finance, Technology, vendors and senior stakeholders to deliver effective solutions.
  • Support the adoption of new systems, processes and ways of working.

About you

You’re an experienced finance professional who combines strong FP&A capability with systems, data and transformation expertise. You can move comfortably between financial analysis, process improvement and technology, translating complex requirements into practical solutions and decision‑ready insights.

You’ll bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and financial analysis.
  • Experience delivering finance systems implementations, enhancements or transformation initiatives.
  • Strong business analysis and process design capability, including documenting business requirements.

Understanding of month end workflows, reconciliation processes and accounting practices.

  • Experience with ERP, asset management or financial management systems, with Ellipse experience desirable.
  • Strong financial modelling, data governance and analytical capability.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation and influencing skills.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, computer science or a similar discipline.
  • Experience in rail, transport, infrastructure, asset‑intensive or regulated environments will be highly regarded, but not critical.

What’s on Offer

We are offering a temporary full time opportunity for 12 months with flexible working options and access to a wide range of benefits and much more.

We are delivering the future of train travel today – and it all starts with our people. Positive mindsets with an ‘anything‑is‑possible’ approach. The MTS team is rewriting all the expectations.
