Job summary

Busways is seeking a skilled Mechanic for our Ryde Depot in New South Wales. You will service and repair a range of fleet vehicles, ensuring safety, quality and Busways standards are met at all times. Join a team that values safety, collaboration and ongoing development.

You’ll receive extensive training on our fleet and technologies, with opportunities to progress and access upgrades to licences, along with comprehensive shift allowances and generous leave provisions.

Qualifications

  • Hold the relevant trade qualifications (MVTC) essential.
  • Experience in service and maintenance of vehicles.
  • Adhere to WHS regulations and company policies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in a team environment on daily maintenance/repair schedules.
  • Proactive approach with drive for continuous improvement.
  • Physically fit to perform role duties.
  • Willing to undergo pre-employment medical and Working with Children check.
  • Must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or have unrestricted working rights in Australia.
  • Hold a current unrestricted Australian driver's licence.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, inspect, recondition, repair and service fleet while upholding Busways standards.
  • Maintain all company vehicles and assets per Manufacturer guidelines.
  • Ensure maintenance work follows company procedures.
  • Attend breakdowns and perform field mechanical repairs as needed.
  • Communicate safety and maintenance issues clearly and promptly.
  • Comply with WHS requirements in all duties.
  • Maintain clean workshop practices.
  • Report and repair accident damage as required.
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as directed.

What We Offer
  • $5000 SIGN ON BONUS! See link to view T&C’s at the bottom of the ad
  • Earning Potential: $105,000 - $120,000+ including reasonable overtime loading and generous allowances (inc. superannuation)
  • $37.19 - $42.96 per hour, depending on skills and experienceâ¯â¯
  • Tool Allowance: $20.61 payable weekly
  • Attendance Allowance: $30.15 payable on rostered worked hours
  • Annual Leave loading of 17.5% - 20% (dependent on consecutive shift type and pattern)
  • Up to 5 weeks annual leave ((dependent on consecutive shift type and pattern)
  • 15 days sick leave accrued annually
  • Eligible for long service leave after 7 years
  • Other applicable allowances payable as engaged listed in the relevant industrial instrument
  • Ongoing Training and Development: Including in-house Heavy Vehicle Brake courses presented by a registered TAFE teacher
  • Exposure to Advanced Technologies: Work on a range of vehicles, including Euro 5 & 6 technologies.

Role Responsibilities
  • Diagnosing, inspecting, reconditioning, repairing, assembling the fleet and ensuring safety, quality and Busways standards are followed at all times.
  • Maintaining all company vehicles and assets in accordance with Manufacturer's guidelines
  • Ensuring all maintenance work is performed according to company procedures.
  • Attend breakdowns and carry out any field related mechanical repairs
  • Effectively and efficiently communicate any safety or maintenance issues
  • Adhering to all Work, Health & Safety requirements whilst performing work duties
  • Maintaining clean workshop practices
  • Reporting and repairing all accident damage as required
  • Performing ad-hoc tasks and other duties as directed

Our workshop staff play a critical role within the business to ensure our ever-evolving fleet of vehicles are continually maintained to the highest standard to keep our staff and passengers safe out on the road.

You can expect to be provided with all necessary training, this will include relevant information about our various makes and models of vehicles to ensure a thorough understanding of standards required to meet contract obligations.

The Successful Applicant Will

Highly Regarded But Not Necessary
  • Heavy vehicle diesel mechanic experience (we provide training and development)
