Job summary

Busways Group is seeking an experienced Mechanic to lead our Kincumber Depot workshop and maintain a diverse fleet to the highest standards. You will diagnose, repair and service vehicles, while mentoring others and upholding safety and quality procedures.

The role offers in-house training, opportunities for licence upgrades, and a supportive team environment with excellent benefits. We encourage applicants with strong teamwork and proactive problem-solving to apply.

Qualifications

  • Hold the relevant MVTC trade qualifications essential.
  • Certificate III in commercial vehicle mechanical technology or above; or Certificate III in light vehicle mechanical technology with 4–5 years post-apprenticeship experience would be highly regarded.
  • Experience in service and maintenance of vehicles (training provided to develop these skills).
  • Adherence to WHS regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, inspect, recondition, repair and assemble fleet while maintaining safety and Busways standards.
  • Maintain all company vehicles and assets per Manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Ensure maintenance work complies with company procedures.
  • Attend breakdowns and perform field mechanical repairs as required.
  • Communicate safety or maintenance issues clearly and promptly.

Role Responsibilities
  • Diagnosing, inspecting, reconditioning, repairing, assembling the fleet and ensuring safety, quality and Busways standards are followed at all times.
  • Maintaining all company vehicles and assets in accordance with Manufacturer's guidelines
  • Ensuring all maintenance work is performed according to company procedures.
  • Attend breakdowns and carry out any field related mechanical repairs
  • Effectively and efficiently communicate any safety or maintenance issues
  • Adhering to all Work, Health & Safety requirements whilst performing work duties
  • Maintaining clean workshop practices
  • Reporting and repairing all accident damage as required
  • Performing ad-hoc tasks and other duties as directed

Our workshop staff play a critical role within the business to ensure our ever-evolving fleet of vehicles are continually maintained to the highest standard to keep our staff and passengers safe out on the road.

You can expect to be provided with all necessary training, this will include relevant information about our various makes and models of vehicles to ensure a thorough understanding of standards required to meet contract obligations.

The Successful Applicant Will
  • Hold the relevant trade qualifications (MVTC) essential
  • Certificate lll in commercial vehicle mechanical technology or above, but will consider Certificate lll in light vehicle mechanical technology with 4 - 5 years post apprenticeship experience in a similar role with the same level of responsibilities would be highly regarded
  • Have experience in the service and maintenance of vehicles (training provided to develop these skills)
  • Ensure adherence and understanding to WHS regulations and relevant company policies
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Have experience working in a team environment on daily maintenance and repair schedules
  • Apply a proactive approach with a drive for continuous improvement
  • Be physically fit to carry out the necessities of the role
  • Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical check, and working with children check.
  • Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Hold a current Unrestricted Australian drivers licence issued by the relevant State
Highly Regarded But Not Necessary
  • Medium Rigid (MR) or above Australian driver’s licence
  • Heavy vehicle diesel mechanic experience (we provide training and development)
