Job summary

Busways Windsor Depot is seeking an experienced Mechanic to lead daily maintenance and repairs across our fleet, ensuring safety, quality and Busways standards are followed at all times.

You will work in a team environment, hold MVTC qualifications, and have opportunity to upgrade to MR licence with company support; we offer training and development, generous allowances and employee benefits.

Qualifications

  • Hold the relevant trade qualifications (MVTC) essential.
  • Certificate III in commercial vehicle mechanical technology or above; 4–5 years post-apprenticeship experience would be highly regarded.
  • Experience in service and maintenance of vehicles; training provided to develop these skills.
  • Adhere to WHS regulations and company policies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Experience working in a team on daily maintenance and repair schedules.
  • Proactive approach with a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Physically fit to perform duties.
  • Willing to undergo a pre-employment medical check and working with children check.
  • Australian citizen or permanent resident or unrestricted working rights in Australia.
  • Hold a current unrestricted Australian driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing, inspecting, and repairing the fleet to Busways standards.
  • Maintaining all company vehicles and assets per Manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Ensuring maintenance work is performed according to procedures.
  • Attend breakdowns and perform field mechanical repairs.
  • Communicate safety or maintenance issues effectively.
  • Adhere to WHS requirements while performing duties.
  • Maintain clean workshop practices.
  • Report and repair accident damage as required.
  • Performing ad-hoc tasks as directed.

What We Offer
  • Earning Potential: $105,000 - $115,000+ including reasonable overtime loading and generous allowances, Inclusive of super
  • $40.1378 - $44.0315 per hour, depending on skills and experience
  • Tool Allowance: $17.90 payable weekly
  • Attendance Allowance: $32 payable on rostered worked hours
  • Annual Leave: loading of 17.5%
  • Ongoing Training and Development: Including in-house Heavy Vehicle Brake courses presented by a registered TAFE teacher
  • Exposure to Advanced Technologies: Work on a range of vehicles, including Euro 5 & 6 technologies

Role Responsibilities
  • Diagnosing, inspecting, reconditioning, repairing, assembling the fleet and ensuring safety, quality and Busways standards are followed at all times
  • Maintaining all company vehicles and assets in accordance with Manufacturer's guidelines
  • Ensuring all maintenance work is performed according to company procedures
  • Attend breakdowns and carry out any field related mechanical repairs
  • Effectively and efficiently communicate any safety or maintenance issues
  • Adhering to all Work, Health & Safety requirements whilst performing work duties
  • Maintaining clean workshop practices
  • Reporting and repairing all accident damage as required
  • Performing ad-hoc tasks and other duties as directed

Our workshop staff play a critical role within the business to ensure our ever-evolving fleet of vehicles are continually maintained to the highest standard to keep our staff and passengers safe out on the road. You can expect to be provided with all necessary training, this will include relevant information about our various makes and models of vehicles to ensure a thorough understanding of standards required to meet contract obligations.

The Successful Applicant Will
  • Hold the relevant trade qualifications (MVTC) essential
  • Certificate lll in commercial vehicle mechanical technology or above, but will consider Certificate lll in light vehicle mechanical technology with 4 - 5 years post apprenticeship experience in a similar role with the same level of responsibilities would be highly regarded
  • Have experience in the service and maintenance of vehicles (training provided to develop these skills)
  • Ensure adherence and understanding to WHS regulations and relevant company policies
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Have experience working in a team environment on daily maintenance and repair schedules
  • Apply a proactive approach with a drive for continuous improvement
  • Be physically fit to carry out the necessities of the role
  • Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical check, and working with children check
  • Be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or have unrestricted working rights in Australia
  • Hold a current Unrestricted Australian drivers licence issued by the relevant State
Highly Regarded But Not Necessary
  • Medium Rigid (MR) or above Australian drivers licence
  • Heavy vehicle diesel mechanic experience (we provide training and development)
