Job summary

The Shire of Augusta Margaret River is seeking an experienced Mechanic to join our Infrastructure Workshop. You will maintain and repair a diverse fleet, diagnose faults, and work collaboratively with colleagues to keep essential services moving.

In this role you will supervise or mentor an apprentice, promote safety, and provide inductions on plant operation. The position is based in Margaret River, WA, with a 9-day fortnight and full-time hours.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Trade Certificate required.
• Experience servicing light vehicles.
• Ability to diagnose faults and provide solutions for plant and equipment.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong safety awareness and safe work practices.
• Ability to provide inductions on safe operation of plant and equipment.
• Experience mentoring an apprentice or trainee.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair Shire light vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out quality repairs.
• Collaborate with fellow mechanics to service heavy plant.
• Maintain tools, equipment and workshop facilities in a safe, clean condition.
• Follow occupational safety and health requirements and promote safe work practices.
• Provide inductions on safe operation and maintenance of plant and equipment.
• Work with colleagues and deliver professional customer service per the Customer Service Charter.
