Job summary

Fraser Coast Regional Council is seeking two qualified Mechanics to join the Fleet team in Maryborough. The role delivers maintenance and repairs across a diverse fleet of vehicles, trucks and heavy plant equipment, in a hands-on capacity.

You’ll diagnose faults, perform workshop and field servicing, and uphold safe work practices. A trade qualification (AQF III), a valid QLD C Class licence, and White Card are essential, with opportunities to mentor apprentices.

Qualifications

Trade qualification as a Mechanical Tradesperson (AQF Level III).
Valid Queensland C Class Driver Licence.
General Construction Induction (White Card).
Experience maintaining and repairing plant, trucks and heavy equipment.
Sound skills in fitting, welding and machining.
Strong understanding of WHS requirements and safe work practices.
Ability to use work management systems to document service records.
Effective communication and teamwork, including supporting apprentices

Responsibilities

Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on Council vehicles, trucks and plant equipment.
Diagnose faults and identify opportunities to improve fleet performance and reliability.
Carry out workshop and field-based servicing, repairs and inspections.
Support work planning by ensuring parts, tools and resources are available when required.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, timesheets and service requests using Council systems.
Contribute to safe work practices and continuous improvement initiatives

Mechanic x 2 Corporate Services Permanent Full Time Maryborough Stream C Level 10 – 7 $81,577 - $89,107 (comprised of $74,161 to $81,006 plus attraction & retention allowance $7,416 to $8,101) + annualised allowance of $4,052 + $3,000 relocation assistance for suitable candidates + 9-day fortnight At Fraser Coast Regional Council our people are our most important asset and central to achieving our purpose of Building Better Communities Together .

What we are looking for:

An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified Mechanic to join Council's Fleet team. In this hands-on role, you will deliver mechanical maintenance and repair services across a diverse fleet of vehicles, trucks and heavy plant equipment. Working alongside a skilled and supportive team, you will help ensure Council's fleet remains safe, reliable and available to support essential community services.

What your day will look like:

Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on Council vehicles, trucks and plant equipment.

What you’ll need for success:

What’s nice to have:

HR Driver Licence recognised in Queensland.
Experience working with local government or large fleet operations.
Diploma studies in Engineering or a related field
